all -clear in Berlin: No free -running lioness spotted

After a driver reported a supposed lioness in the Teltow, Kleinmachnow and Stahnsdorf area last week, a large search was started. Numerous residents were warned and asked to take precautions. But now it is clear: in Berlin never had a free -range lion.

According to the experts from the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research, the animal viewed is most likely a wild boar. However, the authorities do not want to finally commit themselves because the results of the laboratory analyzes are still standing. These examinations are very complex and lengthy and take time.

The police also gave the all -clear in a press conference. There is no longer any risk situation, according to the Mayor of the municipality of Kleinmachnow. The intensive search measures would not have resulted in any clues. Experts now assume that the video is only two wild boars that run from left to right.

had previously accrued doubts about the theory of a poetry. The Berlin wildlife expert Derk Ehlert said skeptically and explained that in his opinion, only wild boars could be seen on the video. The managing director of the Institute for Animal Pathology Berlin, Achim Gruber, also doubted the existence of a lioness. In his opinion, the dogs of the hunters would have found something if a wild boar had actually been broken down.

The effort of the search was still justified, since there was suspicion of a lionin at the beginning. Police officers were used in the forest with machine guns and protective shields. In order to obtain final clarity, hair samples were analyzed that were found on a tree.

The population was informed and asked to take precautionary measures during the search by Warnapp and speakers. Walking and jogging in the forest were also prohibited. In the meantime, the residents can breathe a sigh of relief, because there is no danger of a free -range lionin in Berlin.
