Fight against homelessness: Support for those affected starts now!

The district councilor for youth and health, Carolina Böhm, and the city council for order, Urban Aykal, have uncovered alarming developments in the district: homeless and drug -consuming people are increasingly gathering along the Schlossstrasse and at train stations. In order to master this tense situation, a comprehensive field analysis starts in October, which will examine the age structure, gender distribution and addiction problem of those affected.

The street workers of the Gangway association will be actively at these meeting points to build trust and offer individual help. The aim of the project is not only to intensify preventive measures against homelessness and addiction, but also to promote the dialogue between residents and users of public space. "We are watching the situation of homeless people in public space with growing concern," explained Carolina Böhm, who emphasizes that the loss of living space is usually associated with health damage. Cooperation with social institutions and authorities plays a crucial role in developing effective solutions and ensuring the urgently needed support.
