five after twelve-Joe Biden's withdrawal from the US election campaign and the future of the Democrats

The withdrawal of US President Joe Biden from the election campaign was ultimately no surprise. Fewer and fewer people were able to imagine that biden will run through his election campaign until November and is also successful. Now for the Democrats there is the crucial question of how they can prevent Donald Trump.

A possible solution seems to be in vice president Kamala Harris. However, she has played a rather low role in the election campaign so far and has not yet developed an independent political profile after four years. Above all, she lacks persuasiveness for the many people from the lower and middle class, who support Trump's parole "Make America Great Again".

It is no coincidence that Bernie Sanders, the icon of the democratic left, recently relied on bidges. Sanders believes that bidges can achieve the traditional voters of the Democrats, but they slowly begin to crumble. Here Harris will have difficulty building credibility quickly. Especially since Trump chose a vice candidate with J. D. Vance, who himself comes from the courted lower class, embodied the American dream of ascension from the rise in his own and underpinned it with a successful entrepreneurial career.

Nevertheless, the Democrats still have the chance to hold. However, this opportunity would have been greater if they had set the course for the future in good time. Especially in the past four years, they would have had to struggle to make a convincing alternative to Trump and his nationalist-reactionary political system. The late withdrawal from biden is therefore only another symptom for the misery of the Democrats. It may be five after twelve.

It remains to be seen how the Democrats are now continuing their election campaign and whether they manage to convince the voter masses. The future of the party is at stake and it is up to them to make the right decisions to prevent Trump from win again.
