A disturbing case of human trafficking and sexual abuse currently employs the Tiergarten District Court in Berlin. A 20-year-old man is on trial because he is said to have pushed three underage girls to prostitution. The accused is accused of pimping, forced prostitution and sexual abuse. At the beginning of the process he confessed the deeds.

The young man and his accomplice are said to have persuaded the girls aged 13 and 16 to work as prostitutes. On an internet platform, they created an escort profile for the girls and agreed meetings with the clients. They collected half of the hourly wage of at least 100 euros.

On Tuesday, the accused commented in court and explained: "I am ashamed." The crimes are said to have occurred between December 2020 and March 2021.

According to the indictment, the alleged accomplice met the 13-year-old prostitute about Instagram and persuaded them to prostitution. Overall, the girl met with at least ten freelancers. The two 16-year-old girls each took part in four meetings. One of them rose for psychological reasons. The then 13-year-old girl was only identified in 2023. It is a girl from difficult conditions, as the investigators said. The accused was arrested at the end of May this year.

In return for a comprehensive confession, the defendant was given a punishment of up to 16 months in prison for probation. In addition, he has to pay an amount of 1750 euros to each of the girls concerned. The process will continue on August 22nd.

This case highlights the ubiquitous problem of human trafficking and forced prostitution. Minors are often manipulated and exploited by unscrupulous perpetrators. It is important that such cases are brought to court and the criminals are held responsible to ensure the protection of children and adolescents.
