IS supporter chauffeured to the airport? Charges raised against 24-year-olds

The Berlin Attorney General has charged a 24-year-old because he is said to have made alleged IS supporters possible to the airport. The man is accused of aid for a serious state -hazardous act and support of a terrorist association abroad. The trips to Berlin-Schönefeld Airport are said to have taken place in November 2016 and January 2017.

According to the indictment, the accused is said to have initially driven three men who are said to have traveled to Syria via Istanbul in order to join IS. The man is said to have known that his friends wanted to participate in armed fights.

On the second trip, men from the now banned mosque association "Fussilet 33" are said to have been involved. These are said to have been arrested by Turkish security authorities before they were able to join IS.

In this case, the Berlin General Prosecutor's Office is investigating the 24-year-old man for supporting a terrorist association abroad and aid for a serious state-threatening act. The presumption of innocence applies.
