environmental protection and sustainability are topics that are particularly important for young people. At the 54th International Youth Competition Youth Creativ, children and young people from Germany have creatively expressed their ideas on the subject of “giving the earth”. A total of more than 264,000 contributions were submitted, including 183,000 pictures, 374 short films and around 81,000 quiz solutions.

The federal juries selected the top 40 pictures and films in Berlin on May 14 and 16, 2024. The works include critical representations of climate change, visions of green cities of the future, illustrations for responsible use of nature and innovative ideas for a sustainable world. The participants have interpreted the competition theme "Give the Earth a future" in different ways. While younger participants often represent a positive view of the world and focus on their direct environment, older participants are increasingly dealing with global sustainability goals. The works often show an activist and polarizing perspective, but also offer creative solutions such as upcycling and do-it-yourself ideas.

The winners from Germany will take part in the Federal Award Academy in the summer of 2024, which takes place in Bavaria. There you have the opportunity to deepen your skills in various art and film workshops and experience a diverse leisure program. The first places in the field of image design also have the chance of another award: At the final event on June 27, 2024 in Strasbourg, France, the international award winners from Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland are selected.

The International Youth Competition Youth Creativ has been one of the largest youth competitions worldwide for 54 years. He promotes the creativity of young people and encourages them to deal with socially relevant topics. The high number of submissions in this round of competition shows the great commitment of schools and teachers who contribute to the success of the Youth Creativ initiative.

The next round of competition that begins in October 2024 is devoted to digitization. Pupils from the 1st to 13th grade and young people up to 20 years who no longer go to school can submit their pictures, short films and quiz solutions on the subject of “real digital”.
