The security and integrity of German citizens is of great importance. However, Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) sees no need to extend the border controls after the end of the European Football Championship. Alice Weidel, the AfD parliamentary group leader in the German Bundestag, criticizes this decision and describes it as a scandal.

Hundreds of smugglers have been caught since June 7 and thousands of illegal entry prevented. Nevertheless, the controls are exposed for the time being. For the AfD, avoiding permanent border protection in migration policy is a problem, as this leads to a dramatic erosion of internal security in Germany.

It is a central task of the state to guarantee the security and property of its citizens. According to Weidel, the citizens have a right to protection 365 days a year. However, the interior minister seems to neglect the security of its own citizens and sacrifice them for their ideological preferences.

In addition, asylum, residence and citizenship law would have to be fundamentally reformed and financial and socio-political immigration incentives would have to be deleted. This is important to protect the country and its citizens from overwhelming. The AfD therefore calls for a migration turn and emphasizes that the continuous and consistent control of the boundaries would be a first crucial step in the right direction.
