Including music projects: Spandau schools promote joint learning

A new and exciting project has seen the light of day in Spandau, which brings children together for different backgrounds and with different skills to make music together. The cooperation project "Groovt’s Groovt’s-Inclusive Music with Children" combines the Spandau music school with the August-Hermann Francke School and the Evangelical School Spandau. This initiative is promoted as part of the "Culture.

From August 1, 2024, the three partners will receive targeted support to offer including musical education. The existing cooperation between the two schools in the context of the "School Without Borders", which deals intensively with the creation of a barrier -free learning environment, is particularly remarkable. In this environment, the needs of all students are dealt with individually, with children with multiple and severe disabilities.

unique learning concept for everyone

In the course of this initiative, the Spandau music school will be integrated into the program as the third partner. Pupils from both schools can participate in the group teaching without commitments, which the project designs particularly flexibly. Creative forms of expression such as vocals, drums and dance are on the curriculum. The idea behind it is to give children the opportunity not only to develop musical skills, but also to establish social contacts and to experience a feeling of belonging.

The project manager of this initiative, the district councilor for Education, Culture, Sport and Facility Management, Dr. Carola Brückner, emphasizes the importance of funding: "I am pleased that it has been possible to acquire funding from the culture for this important inclusive project." This statement shows how seriously and positively the project managers note that music is not only an art form, but also a valuable opportunity for children to work together and to support each other.

The vision of inclusion

The overarching goal of the project is to create an inclusive learning environment that does not deny any child to participate. The inclusive schooling is not only a right, but also a rule that is firmly anchored in schools. Every student should be given the chance to learn in a mixed group, which is particularly important for children with special needs.

Among the many projects planned as part of this project, music is highlighted as a crucial medium to overcome barriers and create community. It turns out that music is a universal language that defies differences and brings children together. Under the guidance of experienced musicians, the participants should not only find their expression singing and dancing, but also have the opportunity to try out in a safe and supportive environment.

Dr. Brückner is also committed to ensuring that the project can also exist beyond the funding period. This is a central point to ensure that the positive effects of this initiative are anchored in schools in the long term. The cooperation project could thus become a model for future inclusive educational institutions and provide valuable impulses for similar projects in other parts of Germany.
