Inclusion in education: Start new courses of the adult education center

The Volkshochschule Steglitz-Zehlendorf (VHS) will set an important sign of inclusive education in the upcoming autumn semester. As part of this initiative, a course series is offered for the first time, which is specifically geared towards the needs of people with and without hearing impairments. An innovative aspect of this series is the provision of an interpreter service in German sign language (DGS), which guarantees barrier -free access to adult education for deaf participants. Registrations are easily possible by email.

This early announcement ensures that the educational offer of the VHS is accessible to everyone and that one cannot miss to register for these valuable courses. The commitment to promote inclusion could be a turning point for many interested parties, since education plays a key role in personal and professional development.

Diverse courses for every taste

Among the exciting courses offered as part of this new series, there are numerous topics that make learning an enriching experience. A course to be highlighted is the lecture "Thyroid - Small Organ with great effect". In cooperation with the Feminist Women's Health Center (FFGZ), this lecture is aimed specifically at women in order to draw attention to the essential role of the thyroid gland and their influence on health.

For those interested in culture, the “world travel tours” are an exciting offer. During the tour of the Greek antiquity, participants can experience the dramatic events of Athens through the perspective of the dramatist Aischyllos. Another compact introduction to the ancient tragedies is also offered, ideal for all those who have little time but do not want to do without cultural educational offers.

If you are interested in modern technologies, you can learn in the new "Chatgpt-Fundamentals" course on how to use AI-supported software can make everyday life easier. This practical training could be particularly important for people in today's digital world.

The crochet course is a particularly creative offer. Under the title "DIY: Crochet - revitalizing old cultural technology", the participants are offered the opportunity to create modern works of art with this traditional technology. This type of craft is not only an excellent way to be creative, but also a relaxing leisure activity.

The discovery of history is another goal of the VHS. In the course "With the Wannseebahn through the history of the Berlin southwest", participants can explore the historic route of the Wannseebahn and learn more about the exciting past of this region.

The goal of inclusive education

Despite the commitment to inclusion, access to adult education for people with hearing impairments is often severely restricted. To change this is one of the central concerns of the VHS Steglitz-Zehlendorf. The new range of courses creates a platform that takes into account the special needs of these people and thus strives for a significant increase in accessibility in education.

Education is a fundamental right and the VHS Steglitz-Zehlendorf wants to work harder to make this accessible to everyone. The adult education center is looking forward to welcoming new participants in this inclusive course series and is ready to answer questions and offer support in registration.
