In Kafkas Prague: Daniel Kehlmann & David Schalko film with Denis Scheck - SWR and ARD Mediathek - 100th anniversary

Franz Kafka is one of the most read writers of German worldwide. On the 100th anniversary of the death of the author, the bestselling author Daniel Kehlmann and director David Schalko devoted him to a mini series in the ARD. The series is based on a Kafka biography of Reiner Stach and deals with the life and work of the writer. As part of the series, Kehlmann, Schalko and literature expert Denis Scheck Kafkas Prague visit and explore places that once belonged to Kafka's everyday life. The two 30-minute episodes "worth reading" will be broadcast on the SWR on March 17 and 24 at 10:30 a.m. The programs are already available in the ARD media library on Friday before.

The trip through Kafkas Prague leads the participants to the author's birthplace, his place of work in the workers' accident insurance institution, to the oldest cinema Prague-the Lucerna cinema-and includes a historic tram trip and a boat trip across the Moldova. Kehlmann, Schalko and check of the life and work of the writer and clarify errors about his love life. They also talk about Kafka's peculiar eating habits.

The mini series "Kafka" is a fictional format, whose screenplays are based on the three-volume Kafka biography of Reiner Stach. Stach also acts as a specialist advisor for the series. The main role of Franz Kafka is played by Joel Basman. Daniel Brühl takes on the role of Kafka's friend Max Brod. Hermann Kafka is embodied by Nicholas Ofczarek and Liv Lisa Fries plays Milena Jesenská.

The programs will be broadcast on March 17th and 24th at 10:30 a.m. in the SWR. You are already available on the respective Friday in the ARD Mediathek as well as SWR.de and ARD Kultur.
