In Berlin-Spandau, new living space for refugee people is created. The municipal housing association WBM recently celebrated the topping -out ceremony for 128 apartments on the Askanierring. According to the company's information, one to five-room apartments with a size of 35 to 100 square meters are created as part of the project. This is to be designed by 65 barrier -free. The refugees should be able to move into the new apartments from 2024. It was emphasized that the apartments should then be available to the general housing market.
The residential area also includes a neighborhood meeting, which can be used by all residents and residents for possible joint activities. Furthermore, the listed former barracks Alexander Barracks, which has been used as an initial reception facility for refugees in Berlin since 2020, is located on the eastern part of the property.
