Historical graves in Berlin-Kreuzberg: 48 grave facilities restored!

In the historic cemeteries at the Halleschen Tor in Berlin-Kreuzberg, impressive 48 listed graves were saved from decay! After intensive eight years of restoration, which cost a total of 1.57 million euros, important burial buildings such as the mausoleum of the Alfons Fischer family from 1892/93 and the Mausoleum of the Carl Krause family from 1906 to 1909 are now shining in new splendor. "A success story!", Praises Berlin's state monument conservator Christoph Rauhut.

The magnificent grave facilities are located in the Jerusalem III cemetery on the Mehringdamm, which is part of an ensemble of six adjacent cemeteries. Great personalities such as the writer E.T.A. Hoffmann and the composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. The restoration was largely supported by the State Monument Office with a third of the costs, while the Evangelical Cemetery Association and the Federal Government also contributed to financing. An indispensable step to maintain our cultural heritage! Further information is available here on www.rbbb24.de .
