Hinterhoffloh markets in the Damm suburb: Neighborhood discovers treasures

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, the Dammvorstadt in Köpenick turns into a lively flea market landscape when the third hinterhoffloh markets are organized by Rabenhaus e.V. between 12 and 5 p.m. These self -governing markets not only offer the opportunity to pass on colorful collectibles and useful things, but also promote the neighborhood exchange and the community in the neighborhood.

The event takes place in a cooperation with the Dammi-Kiez neighborhood initiative, which makes it possible to expand the flea market to the entire dam suburb. This focuses on getting to know each other and discovering unknown places in the neighborhood. Especially the backyards, which are often only accessible to residents, open their doors and invite you to immerse yourself in a world full of curious treasures.

Participation in the hopeful markets is possible for all house communities who want to build up stands in their back yard. Interested residents have to coordinate with their property management beforehand and can then register with the Dammi-Kiez neighborhood initiative at Halle@dammi-kiez.de. An overview map on the website www.dammi-kiez.de offers an overview of all participating courtyards. If someone does not have their own back yard, a place in a participating farm can also be found. This not only promotes browsing and haggling, but also together in the neighborhood.

"A large number of flea market treasures will be waiting for you in Puchanstrasse number 25. It is particularly important to us to set an incentive to sustainability through the flea market. Things that you no longer need to pass on to others is good for both the environment and the wallet," explains Silvio Bürge from Dammi-Kiez neighborhood initiative. This idea of a sustainable flea market beats two birds with one stone: it is not only created space for new things, but also promotes awareness of environmental protection.

In addition to the flea, the little ones are also provided: in the back yard of the Rabenhaus district center, which is open from 12 p.m., exciting activities and a surprise for children are waiting in addition to a book junk. Overall, the day promises not only to become a marketplace for used goods, but also a place of encounter for neighbors who may not have met before.
