Aid organization extends emergency aid for refugees in Lebanon

The situation in Lebanon escalates dramatically! More and more desperate people are looking for incessant air strikes in the middle of the country and the Bekaa level. In just one week, the number of displaced people shockingly increased by 104,000. Now around 215,000 women, men and children are already fleeing - a human drama that unfolds unstoppable!

"People flee fear of the overwhelming fear that their home will be the next destination of a bomb," reports Tommaso Portogalli, the office manager of Welthungerhilfe in Lebanon. In places that were once considered home sites, they are looking for protection in abandoned schools, improvised accommodations or with relatives. Often people only take the most necessary - what they can wear in the body. There is a shortage in these emergency accommodations: material goods such as mattresses, food and hygiene items are completely missing!

valuable help for the needy

In order to give the refugee people new hope, Welthungerhilfe expands its emergency aid in the south of the Lebanon and provides an additional 200,000 euros. "In the recording centers, our partners provide needy people with warm meals and offer urgently needed psychosocial advice for the often traumatized refugees!"

The initiative also supports farmers who are caught in their fields by the crisis or whose equipment was destroyed. They help with cash aids so that these people can get the vital. Welthungerhilfe emphasizes that the help must be partially interrupted to protect the staff, and at the same time calls on all parties to operate immediate de -escalation and protect the civilian population.

Welthungerhilfe has been active in Lebanon since 2016 and has already been able to support more than 51,000 people with projects worth 3 million euros in 2023. But the need for help grows rapidly! "We urgently ask for donations under the keyword: donations for Lebanon!"
