Heart for children: Gigantic Christmas dinner in Berlin!

On December 24, 2024, an impressive Christmas dinner was held in Berlin for around 1100 people from financially disadvantaged families. In the famous Hofbräuhaus on Alexanderplatz, around 600 to 700 children gathered together with their caregivers, mostly single mothers. The event was organized by the Christian Children's and Youth Work Arche, as reported B.Z. . Arch founder Bernd Siggelkow emphasized that this was the only festive food for many that they could afford. The enormous demand even suggested 2,000 possible places.

Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. the children were able to enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner with red cabbage, dumplings and festive sauce. In addition, each child received a donated gift, presented by a Santa Claus who was embodied by actor Tim Wilde. In times of growing economic pressure on many families, such support becomes increasingly important, which emphasized Siggelkow by pointing out the growing poverty in Germany.

Christmas menus and traditions

Family food the Christmas dinner varies depending on the region: While some potato salad and Wiener sausages prefer, others enjoy or roast goose with rich side dishes such as dumplings and red cabbage. These culinary traditions are not only a pleasure, but also a significant part of the festive preparations.
