Budget 2025: SOVD demands reliable federal budget without social cuts

federal budget: The government must now deliver

The Federal Government has tackled the federal budget for 2025 - not for the first time. The current priority is on the fast and constructive plot of the coalition. The CEO of the Social Association of Germany (SOVD), Michaela Engelmeier, demands that the public tank must have come to an end. It is of the utmost importance that Germany quickly receives a reliable federal budget without cuts in the social sector. Only in this way can the important but not yet addressed agreements of the coalition agreement be implemented, ”emphasizes Engelmeier.

Engelmeier particularly indicates the promising topics of pension, health and care. In view of the progressive demographic change, important decisions urgently need to be made. People need certainty that they can live a life without poverty even in old age. Therefore, a rapid introduction and implementation of the second pension package is of crucial importance. The health care, both outpatient and inpatient, urgently needs to be optimized and adapted to the changed situation. This also applies to care, be it in the nursing home or at home, ”explains Engelmeier.

In view of the daily public dispute over savings and the financing, Engelmeier pushes the government into unity. "People in Germany expect a federal budget that solves the urgent problems. However, the welfare state must not be broken, but the revenue side must be strengthened. The abolition of the company car privilege, an over-profit tax for companies in crisis times, a higher taxation of the super-rich and a new inheritance law are realizable solutions," adds the SOVD CEO.

It is now that the federal government fulfills its obligations and creates a federal budget that concerns the current challenges and ensures the future of Germany.
