Green Week 2026: Anniversary with Berlin cuisine and family highlights

The Green week in Berlin is just around the corner and will celebrate a very special anniversary this year. From January 16 to 25, 2026, the world's leading trade fair for food, agriculture and horticulture will celebrate its 100th anniversary. What began as a regional agricultural exhibition in 1926 has developed over the decades into a global center for agricultural economics.

Burkhard Kieker, spokesman for the management of visitBerlin, describes the Green Week as “younger and greener than ever” and emphasizes that the event is still a sought-after destination for visitors from all over the world. The “Crafted in Berlin” initiative was launched for visitBerlin’s first participation at the Green Week. This aims to present the culinary diversity of the capital and introduce local manufacturers from five Berlin districts. Sabine Wendt, Managing Director of visitBerlin, announced special offers at the visitBerlin stand that underline Berlin's attractiveness as a location for pleasure and food.

The flower and animal highlight

One of the highlights of the Green Week is the Flower Hall, which this year has the motto “Babylon Garden – the heyday of the Roaring Twenties”. This motto captures the attitude to life of the 1920s, when the Green Week was launched. Visitors can not only experience a floral nightclub, but also linger in the “KaDeFleur” in the style of a Berlin department store of that era. The flower hall is transformed into a green oasis and honors the beginnings of the event.

The animal hall offers a varied show program for families. Numerous animals can be seen here, including horses, cattle, sheep, goats, donkeys and herding dogs. A special highlight is the participation of the Neustadt (Dosse) main and state stud. In addition, the Federal Police equestrian relay team shows off their skills on selected days, while the Hippologica, a four-day equestrian event, includes competitions in dressage, jumping, driving and vaulting.

Culinary diversity and sustainable topics

The Green Week not only offers a platform for regional products, but also a wide range of international and regional specialties. Visitors can look forward to culinary delicacies such as fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, wine and beer. In addition, current topics from the agricultural sector will be discussed, including organic food, bio-energy and sustainable cultivation of raw materials, with numerous seminars and conferences also being offered as part of the event.

With a colorful and informative program, the Green Week in Berlin invites everyone to discover the joy of attending the event and find out about the latest developments in the agricultural sector. With this diversity and the festive occasion, the event will be an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Further information about the event can be found on the official Green Week website here.
