Equality in rural areas: technical discussion for the compatibility of care responsibility and work in Lower Saxony

Yesterday the “Federal Foundation equality on tour” stopped in Cloppenburg in Lower Saxony. The series of events, which will stop in all federal states from 2023 to 2025, devoted to central questions about compatibility and equality. On site, Silvia Breher, member of the German Bundestag and member of the board of trustees, exchanged ideas with regional experts from nursing and business. The focus was on the challenges of caring relatives - a topic that is also of great social relevance in Berlin.

The discussion about the compatibility of family, care and work is of particularly high relevance in Berlin, since the city has a growing population, including many people in need of care who rely on the support of their relatives. The framework conditions for caring relatives must be improved in order to strengthen the participation and realization opportunities of women in our society, as Silvia Breher emphasizes. This assignment is often accompanied by great personal, professional and health deprivation.

Equal opportunities officer and organizations in Berlin also play an important role in promoting the equality of women and men in the city. The creation of interdisciplinary and courageous ideas is also an important concern in Berlin to manage the pressing future issues of compatibility, care and equality.

The Federal Foundation Equality was adopted in the German Bundestag in May 2021 and aims to strengthen and promote the equality of women and men in Germany.
