The importance of the US headquarters
In the summer of 1948, the headquarters were in the center of Berlin Blockade when General Lucius D. Clay organized the Berlin air bridge to supply the enclosed city. After the US troops were withdrawn in 1994, the buildings were empty and became a Lost Place.
New usage concepts
Since 2011, the empty buildings have been acquired by a real estate company and converted into exclusive condominiums under the name "The Metropolitan Garden". The historic buildings on Clayallee were renovated and modernized to create luxurious apartments.
transformation to the present
The former US headquarters have developed into a living residential area that also served as a backdrop for Hollywood films. With the opening of the private museum for contemporary video art "Fluentum" in the main house, the history of the place continues, while new residential complexes are being created and the area awakens into new life.
