Berlin-Schöneberg: Cyclists injured in an accident with pedestrians
in Berlin-Schöneberg, a traffic accident occurred on Tuesday evening, in which a cyclist and a pedestrian were injured. According to the police, the incident occurred at around 6:35 p.m. on Akazienstraße towards Vorbergstrasse.
A 24-year-old cyclist was traveling in the direction of Vorbergstrasse when a 50-year-old pedestrian suddenly stepped onto the road between parked vehicles. This is presumably an inattentive act of the pedestrian who obviously did not pay attention to traffic.
The cyclist had no chance to avoid and collided with the pedestrian. Due to the collision, both plunged onto the road. The cyclist contracted several broken bones and had to be taken to the hospital for inpatient treatment.
The pedestrian, on the other hand, was able to leave the hospital after outpatient treatment of skin abrasions and a tooth injury. The Berlin police have not yet confirmed that the pedestrian is a bottle collector, as was claimed in some media reports.
The Akazienstraße was closed for hours due to the accident, the traffic was guided past the scene of the accident.
Traffic accidents between cyclists and pedestrians are unfortunately not uncommon. It is important that both cyclists and pedestrians always have the traffic in view and are aware of to avoid such accidents.
