Solidarity with Ukraine: Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Heisst Ukrainian flag
Tomorrow the attack on Ukraine marks the age of Russia for the second time. Since then, the brutal war of attack in Ukraine has been ongoing. As a sign of solidarity with Ukraine, Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg will hoist the Ukrainian flag in front of the town hall building in Frankfurter Allee.
The deputy district mayor Oliver Nöll commented on this tragic anniversary and emphasized how much the pictures of the war in Ukraine deeply shake people. The suffering of the civilian population in the attacked cities and villages should hardly be endured. Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg feel with the people in Ukraine and support at the local level where it is only possible. As part of the solidarity partnership with the Kyjiw Darnyzja district, shelters were set up in educational and cultural institutions to help the people concerned.
In 2022 Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg completed a solidarity partnership with the Kyjiw Darnyzja district to support schools and cultural institutions in setting up shelters. A total of 250,000 euros in funding could be acquired and forwarded to Darnyzja. By concluding a cooperation agreement in September 2023, the exchange between the district administrations was further deepened.
The partnership between Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Kyjiw Darnyzja is an important step towards solidarity and support for the people affected in Ukraine. Common efforts can be implemented and the suffering can be implemented.
