Der Bezirk Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg ehrt in diesem Jahr den Publizisten und Aktivisten Dr. Jürgen Enkemann sowie das jüdische und interkulturelle Puppentheater „bubales“ mit dem Silvio-Meier-Preis für ihr herausragendes Engagement gegen Rassismus, Ausgrenzung, Diskriminierung und Rechtsextremismus sowie für Vielfalt und Miteinander im Bezirk. dr. Jürgen Enkemann, born in 1938, is not only characterized by his book "Kreuzberg - the other Berlin", but also by his many years of engagement against gentrification and commercialization in the district. As a co -founder and active co -designer of many municipal political initiatives in Kreuzberg, he is committed to preserving diversity and communication between different communities. The Jewish-Intercultural puppet theater "Bubales", founded in 2011 by Shlomit Tripp, is the first and oldest Jewish puppet theater in Berlin and playfully shows the common ground between the different cultures and religions.

The Silvio-Meier Prize bears the name of a courageous person who was committed to freedom and democracy and was stabbed by neo-Nazis in 1992. The prize honors individuals, groups or projects that actively campaign against social patronage, discrimination and exclusion in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district. By awarding the price, a sign against right -wing extremism, racism and exclusion is to be set and encouraged to commit non -violent commitment to tolerance and freedom.

The decision on this year's award is reflected in the lively and diverse commitment in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district. The award from Dr. Jürgen Enkemann and the “Bubales” puppet theater underlines the importance of a solidarity, democratic and diverse coexistence in society.
