Securing YAAM: Long -term contract for cultural institution in Berlin
After years of uncertainty and temporary uses, the time has finally come: The Yaam (Young African Arts Market) in Friedrichshain is permanently secured at its location at Schillingbrücke 3. The cult. Association for Youth Culture e.V., which has operated the YAAM since 1994, has concluded a lease with a term of 20 years, which also includes two options for extension by five years.
The Yaam has established itself as an integral part of the Berlin cultural landscape in the past 30 years and has acted as a place of multicultural encounter and integration. Due to its diverse cultural, social, sports and leisure activities, the YAAM offers low-threshold access to culture and promotes the social integration of people of different origins.
The district councilor for school, sports and facility management, Andy Hehmke, is pleased with the long -term perspective of the YAAM. He emphasizes the importance of the diverse offers of the YAAM and promises to secure and expand them in the long term at the current location. The board members of the cult. Association for Youth Culture e.V. are also pleased about securing the location and planning to continue to establish Yaam as a contact point for Afropean communities and cultural offers.
The permanent backup of the Yaam not only brings a substantial and sustainable added value for Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, but for all of Berlin. It supports the cultural diversity of Berlin and strengthens social integration in the city.
In a table, the development of the YAAM could be shown over the years, for example with information on the various locations and milestones in the history of Yaam.
