"This place will once again do justice to its historical dimension. Pedestrians and cyclists will determine the cityscape, not the cars," explains Silvia Malcovati, architect with Bernd Albers Architects.

In the center of the new square, calm zones and shaded seating are intended to invite you to linger. A new landmark should additionally upgrade the space. The idea is to design the space so that it is clearly separated from hectic road traffic. The implementation of these visionary plans could, however, encounter resistance. The financability of the project and political reservations in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district could make realization difficult.
