Pride Month in Berlin: Celebrate diversity and tolerance
District Mayor Clara Herrmann presented the planned events for the Pride Month in Berlin Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg in press release No. 147 of May 31, 2024. The district will shine full of rainbow colors in June and celebrate diversity, while at the same time raising awareness of the topics of the LGBTQI+ Community. Particularly emphasized was the Festival Mix México, which will take place in cooperation with the Mexico message.
The adult education center Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg will offer three film evenings, in which films from Mexico are shown that are about queer topics. The first film entitled "90 days to July 2" will be shown on Wednesday, June 5, in the old chapel in Friedrichshain. The second film "My girlfriend is the revolution" will be presented on Wednesday, June 12th. In addition, three short films will be shown on Wednesday, June 26, which deal with traditional ideas of gender.
Ein weiteres Highlight ist die Führung im Berliner Gründerzeitmuseum am Samstag, den 15. Juni, bei der die Teilnehmer*innen mehr über das Leben der bekannten Transfrau Charlotte von Mahlsdorf erfahren. This was an outstanding figure in the post -war period and actively campaigned against discrimination against minorities. Your Wilhelminian Age Museum in Mahlsdorf is an important historical place that reflects the diversity and resilience of the LGBTQI+ community.
