Pilot project: Mobile toilet care started in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg

The district office Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment have started a pilot project for mobile support for public toilets in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg together with the service provider Wall GmbH. The project aims to make public toilets in the social spaces used by drug use with high use of use again and to be used for the general public. Funded by means of the Measure package of the Berlin security summit, up to 13 public toilets are supervised. The mobile team of toilet will regularly visit the locations by bike and trailer, remove contamination and ask false users to leave the toilets immediately. The project will be implemented for two years and financed with around 1.6 million euros.

In Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, there are public toilets in the area around Görlitzer Park to the Kottbusser Tor and the Warsaw Bridge. Due to drug use and high use of use, these toilets are often heavily dirty and unusable for the general public. The new mobile toilet team will help to improve the cleanliness and usability of these toilet systems.

The financial support of the project by means of the funds from the package of measures of the Berlin security summit shows the government's commitment to improve the situation in heavily stressed social spaces. The combination with preventive social measures such as parkers and excessive social work ensures extensive support for the residents of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.

The establishment of a mobile toilet team is an innovative approach to support the residents and keep the public spaces cleaner. Regular care of the toilet facilities ensures that they can be used for the general public and that long downtimes are avoided. The planned term of the two -year project offers enough time to evaluate the effectiveness of the measure and, if necessary, make adjustments.
