Parking management in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg: New zones from autumn 2024
From autumn 2024, the district office Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg expands the existing parking space management area by two new areas. The zones 64 "Reichenberger Kiez" and 66 "Lausitzer Platz" in Kreuzberg go into operation. Parking management means that in a parking zone you can only park with a parking ticket or with a parking permit on the public parking spaces. The regulatory office will monitor the regulation with parking control.
The district councilor for traffic, street and green areas, order and environment, Annika Gerold, emphasizes the countermeasure for high parking pressure in the inner city neighborhoods. With the introduction of parking space management in the Reichenberger Kiez and on Lausitzer Platz, the parking print for the resident is reduced, since visitors will have to solve parking bills in the future. This should also lead to a reduction in noise and exhaust gas loads.
residents who live within the parking zones receive a parking permit that releases them from the obligation to park. Commuters and visitors have to buy a parking ticket during the management period, either digitally with smartphone apps or on the parking ticket machine with cash. Business companies and comparable facilities can also apply for exemptions for parking in the zone.
People with severe disabled people with appropriate ID may park free of charge within the parking zones and do not have to buy a parking ticket. Information on the expansion and a FAQ are available on the website www.parkeninkreuzberg.de. A digital information event for residents, traders and interested parties will take place on June 20 at 5 p.m.
