Ordnungsamt Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg is responsible

The Ordnungsamt Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg recently recorded success in the fight against illegal garbage deposits in the public street country. Through detective work, causers of larger garbage deposits were determined and held responsible. District City Councilor Annika Gerold praised the work of the regulatory office and emphasized the importance of a clean public space.

A concrete example occurred in October 2023 on Scharnweberstraße corner of Colbestraße, where furniture was unloaded from a van and left behind on site. An attentive resident informed the regulatory office about the incident. The cause indicated that he had cleared the apartment of a relative and no longer could bring the objects to the BSR recycling center in time. He then received a fine of around 1,000 euros.

In another case on Warschauer Straße, order office employees were witnessed to illegal garbage deposits of pallets and boxes. A fine of 250 euros was imposed. Likewise, a fine of 750 euros was raised when a cooling shower and a stainless steel table of a catering company were unloaded in Ebelingstrasse.

These measures of the regulatory office aim to achieve maximum deterrence and contain the pollution. Small tackles such as cigarette butts and crown corks are just as consistently punished. In addition, it is proceeded against systematic garbage deposits, some of which is used to combat intentional violations of the Circular Economic Act.

The legally concluded procedures symbolize an important step towards clean and decent public spaces in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious garbage deposits in order to act together against pollution.
