Ecological transformation: From waste to resource in Berlin

water, nutrients and sustainability: a discussion evening about our legacies

The district central library Pablo Neruda in Berlin will be the scene of an important lecture on September 26, 2024, at 7 p.m. and subsequent conversation, which deals with an often ignored but extremely important topic. The event with the journalist Annette Jensen, who has published the book "Holy Shit. The value of our legacies", aims to raise awareness of the problem of waste disposal and re -exploitation of resources.

In Germany, as in many other countries, an enormous amount of drinking water - approximately 35 liters per person - is used every day to dispose of human excrement. This practice means that valuable nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus are lost, which are urgently needed in agriculture. The loss of these resources has far -reaching consequences and represents an as great threat as climate change itself.

In particular, the development and implementation of sustainable solutions is the focus of the discussion. Jensen will present with informative images how innovative approaches and technologies can help restore the natural cycles. The focus is also on Lilly Müller from "Finizio - Future Sanitation", a company that is devoted to the preparation of toilet content of festivals to lead these nutrients back to agriculture.

The relevance of these topics should not be underestimated. Dealing with waste and resource recycling is not only an ecological challenge, but also a social. How do we deal with our traces left in a future -oriented way? The event gives the participants the opportunity to ask questions and enter into a lively discussion. Aspects such as the role of politics and law initiatives can be discussed that are essential to address these pressing challenges.

Annette Jensen not only brings her expertise as a freelance journalist, but also her experience as a co -founder of the “Economy and Environment” department at TAZ. This well -founded perspective will deepen the understanding of the need for the need for ecological and social transformation and thus offer the framework for a stimulating exchange.

Participation is free of charge, but a pre -registration is required. It is an opportunity to actively deal with a topic that not only affects our everyday life, but also the future of future generations.
