Redesign of green spaces in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg: winner of the realization competition unveiled

conversion and redesign of public space in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg

The green and open spaces on the Koppen- and Palisadenstraße in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg are redesigned to prepare the district on the effects of climate change and to create a versatile green area. This measure aims to seal and redesign the area around the Friedrichshain health center. In addition, the street space is to be traffic -calmed to emphasize the importance of foot traffic.

In order to implement this project, the district office Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg carried out a competition for the redesign of the area. The concepts submitted should guarantee an improvement in climate adjustment and an increase in quality of stay in the green and open spaces. After intensive discussions, the jury, led by landscape architect Thomas Guba, decided as follows:

  • 1. Price: greenhouse landscape architecture Hamburg and Argus city and traffic PartmbB, Hamburg
  • 2. Price: A24 Landscape Architecture GmbH, Berlin and Orange Edge- Integrated Urban and Transport Planning, Hamburg
  • 3. Price: st Raum a. Society of Landscape Architects mbH, Berlin and engineering office Richter, Berlin
  • Recognition: Planorama Landschaftsarchitektur GmbH, Berlin and VCDB Verkehrsconsult Dresden-Berlin GmbH
  • recognition: adept, Copenhagen and city+traffic engineering office, Potsdam

The jury unanimously recommends that the draft of the HAMBURG Landscape Architecture Hamburg in cooperation with Argus Stadt and Verkehr PartmbB to implement Hamburg. The detailed competition designs can be viewed online.
