New shine in the Wriezen Park: Remodeling completed!

conversion of the Wriezener Park completed

A significant change in the Wriezen Park in Friedrichshain was recently completed. In recent years, the green area between Warschauer Straße and Rüdersdorfer Straße has been rebuilt to improve the quality of life in this area.

From 2019 to 2020, the area around the locomotive shed between Helsingforser Straße and Rüdersdorfer Straße was comprehensively transformed and replanted. In the following years, the middle section on Helsingforser Straße and the area on the parking access from the Helsingforser Platz was renovated. Particular attention was paid to the removal of concrete surfaces opposite Pillauer Straße. New places, paths as well as shrubs, perennials and lawn have been created, which has a positive effect on the city climate.

Both the meeting point in front of the container of the Gangway e.V. and the skater system were upgraded with new seating. The staircase on the parking was expanded and many repairs were carried out on the existing paths.

Particularly noteworthy is the graffiti wall that was created near the Warsaw bridge and has been used since autumn 2023. This wall offers a legal possibility for graffiti art in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district. Standard waste containers were converted for safe disposal of spray cans. In addition, a "beginner wall" made of press plates in front of the container was built by the Gangway e.V. in order to avoid conflicts in use.

District Councilor Annika Gerold for Transport, Green Area, Order and Environment, commented on the comprehensive redesign of the Wriezen Park: "The successful conversion of the Wriezen Park is an outstanding example of how the quality of life in our districts can be permanently improved. Stadtklimas at, but also strengthen social interaction. "
