New building Heinrich-Hertz-Gymnasium: hereditary building law contract signed

The Friedrichshainer Heinrich-Hertz-Gymnasium is facing an exciting new building at the Ostbahnhof. After the district office has completed a project agreement with the Howoge housing association, the course for new school is now set. The heritage law contract was signed and the building permit is imminent. This step marks an important milestone in the lengthy process, which enables the high school known in Germany to equip them in a modern way and to record more students:

The challenge is to realize a fourth high school on a relatively small property at the Ostbahnhof. The sports hall will be built in the coming years in parallel to the new school building in the nearby Fredersdorfer Straße and is to supply several schools in the area with sports hall capacity. The school start of construction is expected for late spring or the beginning of the summer 2024, and the completion and handover of the new school are planned for the school year 2026/27

This new building will be decisive for school places in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, and the school will be even more attractive for pupils: inside from various districts due to the better connection to public transport at the Ostbahnhof. District City Councilor Andy Hehmke emphasized the importance of the project for the future of the school and the students: inside.

The heads of school building and authorized representative of the Howoge Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH, Jens Wadle, confirmed that the preparations for the start of construction are underway and that the foundation stone for the new school building is expected to be laid in spring 2024.

Overall, this is an exciting and important project for the educational landscape in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, which will have a positive impact on the students: inside and the entire school community. The cooperation between the district office and the Howoge shows that significant innovations in the education sector are possible with the correct planning and support. The school receives a modern infrastructure that is tailored to the school's needs and thus offers optimal conditions for the future of education.
