Kreuzberg journey through time: Historical postcard exhibition from October 10th!
In October this year, the FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum opens the exhibition "From the time-a Kreuzberg post-card collection 1890-1945". The collection of Peter Plewka comprises over 5,600 postcards that offer a fascinating insight into the everyday history of Kreuzberg.
The postcards show streets, squares, companies and everyday scenes in the district, which no longer exist today. The exhibition invites visitors to critically question the representations, ask their own questions and explore and reinterpret historical pictures.
A special part of the exhibition is digital and enables visitors to search the entire post -card collection for keywords, street names and periods. This exciting digital project was created in cooperation with the Center for Temporary History Research.
The exhibition is part of a project that is funded by the Digis (research and competence center digitization Berlin). The FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum has digitized the entire inventory and makes it digitally accessible to the public.
The exhibition will open on October 10, 2024 at 6.30 p.m. by the district mayor Clara Herrmann and can be viewed from October 11, 2024 to May 1, 2025 at the FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum. An absolute must for everyone who is interested in the history of Kreuzberg.
