Climate concepts for Berlin district: Analysis and measures planned

Die Organisationseinheit Klima und Internationales arbeitet derzeit an zwei bezirklichen Klimakonzepten, welche sich mit Klimaanpassung und Klimaschutz befassen. Diese Konzepte sollen als Grundlage für zukünftige Maßnahmen dienen und bestehende Vorhaben bündeln sowie priorisieren. Erste Analyseergebnisse zeigen, dass die Zahl hitzebedingter Erkrankungen und Todesfälle in Berlin steigt, insbesondere bei vulnerablen Gruppen. Die Bürger*innen des Bezirks Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg spüren bereits die persönlichen und sozialen Auswirkungen der Klimakrise. The organizational unit climate and international is currently working on two district climate concepts that deal with climate adaptation and climate protection. These concepts are intended to serve as the basis for future measures and bundle and prioritize existing projects. The first analysis results show that the number of heat -related diseases and deaths in Berlin increases, especially for vulnerable groups. The organizational unit climate and international currently works on two district climate concepts that deal with climate adaptation and climate protection. These concepts are intended to serve as the basis for future measures and bundle and prioritize existing projects. The first analysis results show that the number of heat -related diseases and deaths in Berlin increases, especially for vulnerable groups. The citizens of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district already feel the personal and social effects of the climate crisis. District Mayor Clara Herrmann emphasizes the importance of the climate crisis topic and explains that the district wants to take a pioneering role in climate protection and climate adaptation. The detailed results of the analyzes are still worked out and should identify spatial focus areas for the heat turnaround. Workshops are planned in June and September to develop key measures together with specialist players from the administration.
