Ceremonial inauguration of the Freia-Icener-Straße in Friedrichshain: Historical honor with district mayor!
The celebration for the name of Freia-Ise-Straße in Friedrichshain is imminent, and the city is preparing to honor the memory of a remarkable woman. District Mayor Clara Herrmann will speak at the ceremony, as will the historian Dr. Claudia Schoppmann and the contemporary historian Trille Schünke-Bettinger. A relative of Freia Eisner will also be present to appreciate her memory. Music will frame the inauguration ceremony and create a solemn atmosphere.
The inauguration will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. at the Freiaa-Ise-Straße intersection, corner of Valeska-Gert-Straße, 10243 Berlin. District Mayor Clara Herrmann emphasizes the importance of the naming: "Freia Eisner was a passionate fighter for peace and a just society. Her history and commitment are more visible by naming the street in public space."
Freia Eisner, an active figure in the women's and peace movement, stood for freedom, democracy and social justice. The inauguration of the street is the result of a decision by the district assembly from 2023. It is a planned road without postal addresses.
The event is a collaboration with the "active museum". Media representatives can contact press@ba-fk.berlin.de or by phone at (030) 90298-2843. The celebration will be a significant moment to honor Freia Eisner's legacy and remember their historical role. Interested citizens are cordially invited to take part in the inauguration ceremony and to celebrate the naming of the street.
