Successful completion of the project to promote reusable use in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg
The six-month project "Promotion of reusable use in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district" was successfully completed on December 31, 2023. In cooperation with the Zero Waste e.V. In addition to reusable and hygiene advice from gastronomic companies, the focus of the project was on increasing the actual use of reusable containers. Gastronomy businesses received financial and organizational support for the implementation of activating reusable campaigns.
This project is part of the efforts of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district to implement Zero-Watste strategies and to reduce the environmental impact on disposable packaging. District Mayor Clara Herrmann emphasizes the need to replace disposable products with reusable solutions to reduce garbage mountains, create cleaner neighborhoods and parks and make an active contribution to climate and resource protection.
In total, more than 140 gastronomic companies were advised on the subject of reusable, with 26 companies implementing three-week reusable campaigns in order to promote the use of reusable solutions. Most participating companies successfully increased the demand for reusable solutions, which indicates a positive interest and commitment of consumers.
The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district continues to consistently focus on implementing measures to avoid waste and plans to implement further initiatives on the way to the Zero-Wasten area.
