The Auerdreieck park in Friedrichshain: Refurbished and handed over to the public.

The Auerdreieck park in Friedrichshain was handed over to the public again after the renovation has been completed. The comprehensive renovation and ecological redesign of the park have significantly improved the quality of stay. The new playground in particular offers a variety of ways to let off steam for children of different ages. The renovation was financed with the help of Mittelen from the Berlin funding pot "Bene" (Berlin program for sustainable development). The aim was to take ecological criteria and sustainability into account. The ideas and criticism of the dedicated neighborhood were taken into account in the renovation planning. In this way, proposed tree felling could be avoided and neighborhood gardens were created.

As part of the renovation, heating lines that were no longer used were removed, sealed areas broke open and restructured, taking into account the preservation of monuments. The park was planted according to the motto "edible Berlin" with various wild fruits such as hazelnuts, walnuts and chestnuts. In addition, a wooden and flowering hem with wild plants was created to promote biodiversity. The newly planted trees and shrubs were selected, taking into account the climate silence. A deep well was drilled and water pipes were laid in order to be able to irrigate the vegetation even in times of high heat and drought.

In the sense of sustainability, existing materials such as fences or concrete slabs were reused and reinstalled in the park. Numerous benches and lying benches invite you to linger. The newly installed neighborhood gardens are managed by a group of residents on their own.

The total costs for the renovation of the Auerdreieck amount to around 2.5 million euros, of which 90 percent funding from the European Union and the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment are. The basis for the renovation was the concept of the planning office K1 landscape architects.
