Peace symbol in Treptow: Mayors for Peace Flag.

This year, around 600 cities in Germany are actively involved in peace by raising the Mayors for Peace flag in front of their town halls. This is a strong sign against wars and for a world without nuclear weapons. Today, on July 8th, the traditional flag day, the flag of the association in front of the Treptow City Hall.

The district of Treptow-Köpenick has been part of the Mayors for Peace peace network since September 2018 and is consistently committed to a world of nuclear weapons. The network is now one of its members more than 8,400 cities and municipalities from 166 countries. The common message is clear: nuclear weapons have no place in our world, and it is the responsibility of the cities and municipalities to work for peace.

Participation in the Mayors for Peace network is an important step for municipalities to raise their voice for global peace and actively work for a future without nuclear weapons. The flag day marks a moment of solidarity and engagement for a world in which conflicts are peacefully resolved and atomic threats of the past are solved.
