Research project at Nazi era: Results show little interest in Holocaust in Rhineland-Palatinate families

in Rhineland-Palatinate is rarely talked about the time of the Holocaust. This is one of the central results of a research project that was initiated by the state parliament a year ago and was now published. Younger people in particular appreciate the relevance of the Holocaust for their family or their own future as rather low. In the families, in which there is talk about the Holocaust and the Second World War, the generation of grandchildren often encounter the topic.

This result also throws a light on dealing with National Socialism in Berlin. As a city that played an important role in the history of the Second World War, the results of the research project are of particular interest to the Berlin population.

in Berlin and the surrounding districts there is a strong Jewish community that is still faced with the effects of the Holocaust. There are also a large number of citizens with a migration background that are also affected by the results of the research project. The examination of National Socialism in German families depends on family commitment and their descendants. This is also shown in Berlin, where different families rate the memory of the Holocaust differently.

Another interesting result of the research project is that the locals in Rhineland-Palatinate more about the everyday life of Germans in the Third Reich and about the processing of the Nazi crimes after the Second World War know as families with a migration background. This knowledge raises the question of whether and how the formation and integration of families with a migration background in Berlin can be improved in order to promote a more comprehensive understanding of German history and the Holocaust.

Furthermore, the study showed that a strong tendency to establish right and anti -Semitic positions in Germany. This is a worrying result that is of great importance not only for Rhineland-Palatinate, but also for Berlin and other major cities.

The research results are used in different ways. One focus is on the so -called citizen science and, among other things, a hiking exhibition on the project is designed. This exhibition could also take place in Berlin and thus address and inform the Berlin population directly.

The results of the research project thus offer important findings for Berlin and other major cities in Germany. You can help strengthen the awareness of history, to promote political education and to strengthen democracy. At the same time, it is important to break up and hide in the post -war generation about the events in the Third Reich and to question stories.
