Festive benefit night for the 15th anniversary of hurdles-mentoring in Berlin

15 years of hurdling mentoring: an evening of support and community

On September 19, 2024, a special anniversary will be celebrated in the Kulturstall on the Britz Gutshof in Neukölln-15 years of hurdling mentoring. The project began in April 2009 with the aim of supporting refugees, trainees and students in overcoming their personal, school or professional hurdles. Since then, over 1,300 mentees have benefited from the committed support from voluntary mentors and achieved their personal goals.

The anniversary is celebrated with a benefit night, to which everyone is cordially invited. It will be an evening full of celebrations, astonishment and overcoming new hurdles. A special moment that Mentee also experienced Diana and which she says: "We had many goosebumps moments! I was very often speechless how much we both did together."

The benefit night will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the Britz cultural stable on the Britz estate. Admission begins at 6 p.m. The evening offers the opportunity to learn and support more about the mentoring project. There will be a varied program with performances by artists such as Max Raabe, Bernadette La Hengst, Gayle Tufts and many more.

Max Raabe will provide entertainment with his music from the 1920s to the Raabe pop era. The poetic short texts by Elisa Aseva give an insight into the everyday life of an unskilled worker. Katharina Greve offers a comic reading with absurd humor and a distinctive line. Fil maintains the audience with his ability to tell of digestive stories and not to lose the Berlin charm. Bernadette La Hengst presents a discourse skirt with changing instruments in your one-Woman show. Sebastian Krämer inspires as a chansonnier with humor and sense of great poetry. Through the evening, Gayle Tufts will lead with her adorable moderation in German-English.

The event offers the opportunity to celebrate together and do something good at the same time. As Gayle Tufts says: "How much would I have liked to have a mentor when I came to Germany with 24 and without language. A cool project that starts at the base directly and down. Now I give back a little."
