An absolute spectacle experienced Berlin during the 20th Festival of Lights, which between October 4 and 13, 2024 transformed the capital into a bright work of art! Over 3.5 million people flocked to the streets to marvel at the breathtaking light installations. A truly remarkable increase compared to the approximately 3 million last year! Who would have thought that even the miserable weather could not deter the enthusiastic visitors?
The organizers shine with joy! Birgit Zander, the creator behind this impressive event, could not be proud: "Even the wet -cold weather on some days did not stop the visitors from flocking to the festival and enjoying the emotional worlds and shows. That makes us very happy and also a bit proud."

The appearance of the legendary "Trabi" on the Brandenburg Gate, a symbol of the once divided city, was particularly touching. The moment when the Trabi powerfully broke through an apparently insurmountable wall, moved many people present. Birgit Zander summarizes the emotions: "Memories of the fall of the Berlin Wall 35 years ago." It was an impressive moment when people talked about their experiences and shared the joy of a free life.
The peaceful atmosphere was also particularly heartwarming. Over 100 works of art by more than 50 artists from 20 nations made Berlin the largest open-air gallery in Europe.
