Festival of colors: Berlin CSD combines hundreds of thousands of diversity
Thousands of people in Berlin celebrated a lively Christopher Street Day (CSD) on Saturday, which fills the streets with colorful outfits, rainbow flags and an exhausted party mood. Despite the initial rain, the participants, who gathered at Alexanderplatz, did not prevent them from expressing their message for diversity and equality.
Political demands and social change
The activists called for concrete changes in politics, in particular the addition of the Basic Law to ensure the protection of queer. Sophie Koch, who could be heard at the opening speech, emphasized the need that Article 3 of the Basic Law is expanded by the sentence that nobody should be discriminated against because of his sexual identity. This claim was supported by the Federal Minister of Family Lisa Paus (Greens), who addressed a greeting to the assembled people.
