The ex-football star o.J. Simpson died of cancer at the age of 76, as his family announced. Simpson died surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Orenthal James - "O.J." was born - Simpson on July 9, 1947 in San Francisco and achieved sporting success early on. As a professional in the NFL, he played for the San Francisco 49ers and the Buffalo Bills.

After his sporting career, Simpson also became active in the entertainment area and appeared in films and television series. However, the year 1994 marked a turning point when the chase of the blood-so-covered corpses of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her boyfriend Ron Goldman were discovered during a chase on TV.
