EVG calls for a clear plan to strengthen the operational area and the rail in Germany

The concerns of the EVG regarding the job cuts of Deutsche Bahn

A current initiative by Deutsche Bahn to review and question their processes and structures, causes concerns to the railway and transport union (EVG). While the EVG basically supports changes in the company, it demands clear and predictable measures to ensure that the job reduction takes place socially acceptable.

The EVG emphasizes the importance that the work is not simply distributed over fewer shoulders and that the collective agreements, continued employment in the group and qualification measures are strictly observed. The union demands that the operational area of Deutsche Bahn will be strengthened instead of reducing personnel. She emphasizes that every employee is required for efficient rail traffic in Germany. The EVG therefore expects a clear plan from the group board and owner.

The EVG has made specific claims to Deutsche Bahn:

  1. All planned settings in the operational area must be implemented.
  2. The long -term financing of the railway in Germany must be ensured, especially for the contemporary modernization of the infrastructure.
  3. The aim is to optimize all processes in the DB group in order to advance the core business qualitatively and also digitally.
  4. A central problem in the economy is the shortage of skilled and labor, which will continue to increase in the coming years. Personnel is essential for a successful turnaround. In addition, the demographic change also tightens the situation. The EVG warns against repeating the mistakes of the past and demands a clear and financed future plan from politics and the owner. Without a powerful rail, the turnaround and thus also the climate -like Germany is doomed to fail.
