EU approved 35 billion euros for Ukraine: Selenskyj travels to Berlin!

The European Union has decided on a new aid package for Ukraine of up to 35 billion euros. This was announced in Brussels on Wednesday to support the country attacked by Russia. This financial aid is expected to be repaid from frozen Russian central bank assets. In addition, it will be part of a larger support package, which was decided by the great western industrialized countries in summer and comprises up to $ 50 billion (approx. 46 billion euros).

In a further development, the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj will meet with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin on Friday to discuss the situation in Ukraine and possible further support. Previously, Selenskyj will also hold meetings in France, Great Britain and Italy. These activities are part of the Ukraine-Südosturopa summit, which Selenskyj visits in Croatia. The summit provides for a collaboration on the path of Ukraine to NATO and EU, and Selenskyj emphasizes the need to withdraw from Russian troops from the occupied areas in Ukraine. The debate about peace and security also attracts the attention of the international community, such as the joint explanation of twelve Southeast European countries and Turkey, which warn a deduction of Russia as a condition for peace.
