Shaking reduction in funding for energetic modernization: consumers remain in the dark
Statement: Consumer advocates are concerned about reducing energy consulting
The recently announced reduction of the federal government in energy consulting causes unrest among consumer advocates and specialists. The consumer protection organization Bauherren-Schutzbund e.V. (BSB) expresses its shock about the measure that leads to a significant reduction in funding.
For consumers, this cut means that they can only receive a maximum of 50 percent of the previous grant amounts while the eligible costs are reduced at the same time. Florian Becker, Managing Director of the Builders Protection Association, emphasizes the importance of qualified energy advice for sensible and successful energetic modernizations.
he criticizes that the reduction measure was announced at short notice and without predictability. This leads to uncertainty among consumers and can cause them to do without technical advice. As a result, many renovation measures could be carried out ineffective, expensive or even incorrect. The current renovation rate is already far below the aim of two percent.
The consumer protection organization cannot understand the Federal Government's reduction decision, especially in view of the high demand for energetic advice. Becker suggests that any additional costs for the promotion of advisory funding could be compensated for by redistribution of unreferred funds of federal funding for efficient buildings from last year.
The building owner protection association calls on the Federal Government not to further reduce the promotion of energy advice, since builders and property owners are intended to invest more in energy efficiency. The current cuts deteriorate the framework conditions and make it difficult to convert the building stock towards energy efficiency.
The consumer advocates therefore hope for a revision of the state funding guidelines to ensure that qualified energy consultations remain accessible to consumers and that the energetic renovation of buildings is promoted.
