Memory of the past: exhibition on hostility to Jews in Neukölln
The vernissage for the exhibition "Exposed and follows" marks the beginning of an important series of events that devotes itself to the topic of anti -Semitism in Neukölln. The exhibition, which will open on Friday, September 6, 2024 in the Kurt-Löwenstein-Haus in Berlin, illuminates the defamation and persecution of young Jewish people from 1933.
This series of events of the district is an urgently needed initiative, since the spread of religious and ethnic hate slogans, insults and threats to Jewish people as well as attacks on anti -fascist groups in Neukölln continue to make headlines. Through exhibitions, lectures, city tours and workshops, people remind you and deal with the origins and manifestations of hostility to Jews in Neukölln.
The vernissage of the exhibition "Exured and followed" presents the experiences and ways of fate of young Neuköllners, who were defamed during National Socialism as Jews or "Half -Jews". The exhibition, which will be shown in the Kurt Löwenstein House until November 30, 2024, extends from the exclusion in everyday life from 1933 to the deportation in extermination camps like Auschwitz.
The event is opened by Education Councilor Karin Korte and offers a sensitive insight into the darkest time in German history. Visitors have the opportunity to visit the exhibition free of charge, without prior registration.
As part of the series of events "Anti -Semitism in Neukölln", further dates are planned, including lectures, city tours and action days, which serve to keep the memory of the victims of National Socialism awake and to raise awareness of anti -Semitic incidents in the present.
