Discover the green oasis of Berlin: A press walk through Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf

berlin/press invitation/discuss and walk with us: what city green in climate change

The BUND of German Baumschulen (BDB) e.V. together with the Green Spaces department of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district is organizing a special press walk. Instead of a classic press conference, we invite journalists to walk with us through the green areas and streets of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. We would like to show you concrete examples of city green in order to look at the effects of climate change directly on site and to show solutions.

We will stop at a total of four stops between Mierendorff Platz and Austria Park and talk about various topics that are related to climate change and the urban green. Our speakers: Inside are an expert: inside in their specialist areas and will give us valuable insights.

1. Climate stress and city green: How do urban green areas and trees change through climate change? What are the challenges of this and what measures can be taken?

2. Tree plantings in a growing city: How can we plant sufficient trees despite the lack of space in a growing city and what is the importance for urban ecology?

3. Park room vs. climate adaptation measures: How can we get open spaces and parking space while at the same time implemented measures to adapt to climate change?

4. Rainwater management: How can we use rainwater sensibly and at the same time protect the urban infrastructure against flooding?

The event will take place on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 and starts at 11:00 a.m. The meeting point is the Mierendorff Square on the water fountain. The walk will end at 1:00 p.m. at Austria.

Afterwards we cordially invite you to a meal and drinks in the Caprivi beer garden to continue the exchange and discussion.
