Ice cold Christmas: Berliner Baden in the Orankesee at 4 degrees!

For the first Christmas holiday, around 50 brave Berliners laid themselves in the ice -cold water of Lake Organ. As in previous years, the “Berlin seals” organized the spectacular Christmas bathing. At a water temperature of only 4.1 degrees and an air temperature of one degree Celsius singing in a Christmas mood, it is a unique tradition for many. Peggy Müller from the club report: "It was already cold. It then twirled nicely in your feet." The participants, some disguised as an elves and elves, had decorated themselves with Santa Claus hats and tinsel to give the frosty cold a little shine.

Christmas carols and mulled wine

Before immersing in the cold wet, the club members sang festive Christmas carols who warmed up the frosty atmosphere for a moment. After their brave jump into the water, they were able to warm up with mulled wine. Peggy Müller remembered the winter challenges of the past year when the coldest bathroom in the Orankesee took place and a ten -centimeter thick layer of ice was to be overcome at minus ten degrees.

The sports club plans to continue on New Year's Day and even offer a carnival bathing with costumes on January 11th, which makes the cold days no less attractive. Berlin lives from such traditional and bold activities that give the holidays a special charm, such as Tagesspiegel . In any case, the Orankesee is a place where cold meets festive fun!
