Icy temperatures and snow: Berlin and Brandenburg in winter chaos!
Winter has a firm grip on Berlin and Brandenburg! In the past few days, the temperatures have fallen on icy values, with snowfall and frost that search for the region. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the temperatures on Monday (January 13) even dropped to up to minus eleven degrees Celsius. During the day, the values hardly make it over zero degrees, while in the nights the cold ensures additional frost, which makes many people shiver as soon as they go outside. The freezing temperatures and the risk of black ice, such as Berlin Live reported, external caution on the streets and civil climb.
But winter is not the only weather that currently makes headlines in Berlin. On Thursday, cameras were able to grasp astonishing 30 degrees Celsius in some parts of the region, which is seen as the first small heat wave of the year. The 30-degree mark was exceeded, particularly in Potsdam at 30.7 degrees, followed by Manschnow and BER Airport. A top value of 30.5 degrees was also measured at the Buch measurement station in Berlin itself. ARD meteorologist Roland Vögtlin describes these extreme temperatures as "almost high summer". Although the heat is to continue at the weekend, the meteorologist warns of the rising risk of forest fire in Brandenburg due to the drought as far as farmers and authorities worry, since the rain risk in the region tends to zero, as from [RBB24] (https://www.rbb24.de/panorama/biebtrag/2023/06/wetter-berlin-brandenburg- Temperature-30-grad-mark-heiss.html).
These extreme weather conditions are in a strong contrast: While winter is currently bringing cold air and snow, we also experience an unusual jump in temperature that affects everyday life. The people in the region must therefore deal with both frost and high summer temperatures, which leads to uncertainties and underlines the need for good planning.
